The directors and teachers who are responsible for the educational program are highly qualified and exceed the state educational requirements. The school has also made it their policy to maintain a ratio of 3 teachers to every group of 24 students.

Nadine graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a B.A. and later received a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Sonoma State. She joined the East Hills staff in 1979. In her “non-preschool” hours she enjoys attending Early Childhood workshops and seminars and is involved with a local School for the Performing Arts.

PEGGY SUSOEFF
Peggy Susoeff is a teacher in both the morning and afternoon classes at East Hills Preschool where she’s been instrumental in developing the school’s Butterfly and Hummingbird Habitats, key components of the school’s Science curriculum. Peggy joined East Hills in January 1997. She has an A.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education and in her spare time she enjoys weaving, hiking and gardening.

MONIQUE MATTHEWS

Monique Matthews teaches the afternoon classes at East Hills Preschool. She enjoys building good self-esteem in the students and helping them develop a life-long love for school. Monique joined the East Hills staff permanently in 2007 after working as a substitute for many years. Monique has an A.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education and is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young children (NAEYC) and the California Kindergarten Association. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, hiking and attending her book club.

SHELLEY PERALTA LEYVA

Shelley Peralta Leyva is a teacher of the morning and afternoon Monday, Wednesday, Friday classes at East Hills Preschool where she brought Spanish into the curriculum after making a career change. Prior to joining the East Hills family in 2007 Shelley worked in the high-tech industry as a computer programmer for a fundraising Internet company that serviced schools. Shelley has a B.A degree in Social Work from San Jose State University. In her spare time she enjoys cooking for family and friends
